Things are looking might briny with piles of oysters and great fare in Historic Downtown Pensacola this weekend, and you can wash it all down with the best whiskey while wearing the prettiest pearls!
Peat & Pearls returns for its second annual event celebrating Scotch and Oysters. Featuring four days of tastings, seminars and special events where you can mingle with celebrity chefs and fellow foodies, it is a 4-day event kicking off tonight, Thursday, October 4th and will end on Sunday the 7th.
A portion of ticket sales will benefit the oyster shell recycling program run by Keep Pensacola Beautiful.
You can purchase your tickets to Peat & Pearls here – use promo code “FRIENDS” to receive 20% off of your standard ticket purchase.
The prettiest pearls wouldn’t exist without a little grit like the Peat & Pearls website states. And the Gulf Coast, known for its opulent, sugar-white beaches and Old-South charm, was built on the backs of fishermen, sailors and seafarers. Peat & Pearls celebrates this heritage through two of my favorite things: Scotch and oysters in Pensacola’s colonial-era seaport, first settled by the Spanish in 1559.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Thursday and Friday
Event tickets can be purchased here a-la-carte, meaning you can pick and choose which parties you want to attend. Of course I suggest you go big like me and get the VIP tickets so you can party in style!

For the kickoff event, Peat & Pearls invites visitors & locals to don their finest pearls & promenade down Palafox Street — Downtown Pensacola’s main commercial thoroughfare — for a progressive pairing experience featuring oyster-themed small plates prepared by local chefs & paired with wines from the portfolio of Treasury Wine Estates…(click for more)
Thursday October 4th :: 7:00pm – 10:00pm

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Saturday and Sunday
Saturday October 6th :: 6:00pm – 10:00pm
The Vineyard Pensacola
Peat&Pearls is partnering with one of my favorite reads (as I do often write stories myself for them), VIE Magazine – a national luxury lifestyle magazine. VIE focuses on fusing fashion, travel, philanthropy, health and art to inspire readers with elegance and grace.
This partnership will produce a special, salon-style event highlighting the perspectives of women in whiskey and oysters — two fields that have traditionally been dominated by men, with founder Lisa Burwell navigating.
VIESpeaks event series will begin with a cocktail hour, followed by a panel discussion featuring women oyster farmers, Glenfiddich brand ambassador, Tracie Franklin, and Katie Garrett, owner of Pensacola’s Old Hickory Whiskey Bar & co-host of The Bourbon Bettys podcast.
This event will be a take on a TED talk – it will be fun and a bit less formal than the other nights. It will be fashion-forward, chic casual attire – a party with VIE Magazine, so bring on the style!
Sunday October 7th :: 3pm – 7pm
The Grand Tasting — featuring premium oysters, fine cigars and more than a dozen award-winning chefs from all over the South. Oh yeah — and plenty of whisky.
Sunday’s Grand Tasting will be hosted at the Barkley House — a picturesque, 19th century estate located on the waterfront in Downtown Pensacola. Guests will mingle with oyster farmers & celebrity chefs from across the Southeast (including Chefs Cody and Sam Carroll, stars of The Food Network’s Cajun Aces) as they enjoy a variety of naked, cooked & composed oyster dishes.
Sunday’s festivities will also include the following:
- Storytelling Salon — Featuring interviews with chefs, farmers & craftsmen
- Cigar Garden — Featuring product giveaways & live cigar rolling demonstrations
- Spirits Program — Featuring whiskey tastings, cocktails & seminars by Glenfiddich
There are still a handful of rooms available at the Lee House, although it is booking up quickly. I highly recommend that VIP ticket holders stay at this beautiful boutique hotel located in the Historic District of Downtown Pensacola, since The Lee House is where the VIP reception will be held, among many other reasons. Fun Fact: Did you know my daughter was married exactly one year ago at Old christ Church across that street from The Lee House in an “oyster themed” wedding! You can read about it here while lounging on the veranda! 😉
VIP ticket holders can rub elbows with Food Network Stars Sam and Cody Carroll, eat, drink and be merry and when the night is over simply saunter over to their beautiful guest suites overlook the glistening waters of the Pensacola Bay.
Guest Suites for the event can be purchased at a special rate – simply mention “Peat & Pearls” when you call to book. You can visit the Lee House’s web site or call 850-912-8770.
