A new foodcentric event is coming to South Walton this spring that should be marked on your calendar, especially of you are a foodie and living anywhere near the radius of the Florida Panhandle. If not, Southwest makes it easy to fly into Panama City Beach, just short drive away, about 20-30 minutes.
The Food Film Festival was created by Emmy award-winning filmmaker and Travel Channel host George Motz, and will be held April 8-10, 2016, with events at locations across the area, including Caliza Restaurant, Bud & Alley’s and The Hub along scenic highway 30A.
South Walton is the fourth location selected for this exciting festival, which has also already been held in New York, Chicago and Charleston.
Attendees will screen a selection of the amazing food documentaries while tasting the dishes seen onscreen, and prepared by some of the South’s most-renowned chefs.
Chefs attending the event include Ryan Prewitt of Peche Seafood in New Orleans, Braden Wages of Malai Kitchen in Dallas, Michael Gulotta of MoPho in New Orleans, Kevin Gillespie of Gunshow and Revival in Atlanta, along with locals Phil McDonald of Bud & Alley’s Pizza Bar in Seaside, and Kevin Korman of Caliza at Alys Beach, just to name a few.
A portion of the Food Film Festival South Walton proceeds will benefit the Emerald Coast Theatre Company and Food For Thought Florida. The Local Palate, is a nationally distributed magazine with a focus on the food culture of the South, and is the event’s main sponsor.
